Squared were engaged to dismantle the existing 133 year old heritage station building at Mont Albert Station as part of the Union Mont Albert Level Crossing Removal Project.
This complex and intricate scope included the development and implementation of detailed temporary works design, allowing us to take the building apart carefully in pieces and transport it safely offsite. Extreme care and precise temporary works staging was required throughout this process to ensure the integrity of the structure was maintained for reuse. The existing building elements were then reassembled onto a new structural frame at an offsite fabrication premises. All temporary works including the design of the steel frame was undertaken in house by Cerecon Engineering. The building will soon be fitted out as a warm shell and likely repurposed as a cafe as part of the new Mont Albert Station Precinct. Installation of the new 22m long building structure at its new location will consist of two major crane lifts for the wall segments and roof.
